LM Cigars Custom Cigars: Personalized Labels and Printed Cellophane for Weddings, Events and Gifts

Custom cigars are one of those details guests actually remember. A cigar with the couple’s names and wedding date on it can end up saved in a drawer for years. If you’ve been thinking about personalized cigars for an upcoming event, LM Cigars’ custom cigar program is worth a look. Here’s what they offer, based on their own site, plus our advice on planning an order.
Who Is LM Cigars?
LM Cigars, formerly Luis Martinez, says on its About page that it has been offering cigars since 1876. Along with its own Luis Martinez brands, it sells other premium lines, including Cuesta-Rey and Brick House. The company lists a Tampa, Florida mailing address.
Two Ways to Personalize: Labels or Printed Cellophane
LM Cigars offers two styles of customization.
Personalized labels. While the manufacturer’s cigar bands stay in place, a custom label is added to the cigar (or, for the cigars that come in glass tubes, to the tube), so you get your personal touch without losing the original band. According to the personalized labels page, labels can include names, dates, logos, artwork, event details, messages and other approved designs. You can upload your own finished design, or send your logo, text ideas and color themes and let their design team build the label for you. The order form accepts JPG, JPEG, PNG or GIF uploads.
The site lays out the label process in four steps:
- Choose the cigar style, size and quantity.
- Submit your logo, artwork, names, dates or ideas.
- Approve the design and its placement before production.
- Receive the finished, labeled cigars.
Imprinted cellophane. The second option prints your message directly on the clear cellophane sleeve that protects each cigar. LM Cigars’ custom cellophane page points out that cellophane gives you a larger area to work with than a traditional cigar band. On the cellophane product we checked, you enter the text, choose an imprint color from 13 options (from metallic green, red and blue to silver, gold, black, white and several brights), and confirm that you’ve double-checked your spelling before you can add it to the cart.
One rule applies to both: LM Cigars says every custom logo and message is subject to review, and trademarked logos or slogans are restricted.

Which Cigars Can You Customize?
Customization isn’t available on every cigar in the catalog. The custom cigars product category currently lists options from Brick House, Cuesta-Rey Centenario, Diamond Crown, Luis Martinez Silver Selection, Perla del Mar and Sarzedas. They’re sold by the box, and box counts vary by cigar. Two examples from the product pages:
- Luis Martinez Silver Selection Crystal Robusto: a box of 20 robustos (4.75 x 50) in individual glass tubes, listed as medium strength with a Nicaraguan origin and a sungrown wrapper.
- Perla del Mar Shade Toro: a box of 25 toros (6.25 x 54) with an Ecuador Connecticut wrapper, listed as smooth to medium, with a Tampa-style press.
Each product page lists its own price, and prices can change, so check the current price on the page before you budget.
Who It’s For
LM Cigars pitches its custom cigars at both personal celebrations and business use. The site specifically mentions:
- Weddings and bachelor parties
- Milestone birthdays, anniversaries and retirements
- Father’s Day and holiday gifts
- Business promotions, client appreciation and client gifts
- Golf tournaments, golf outings and team-building events
For weddings, LM Cigars suggests them as party favors, groomsmen gifts, a cocktail-hour or after-dinner smoke, or a keepsake for guests who don’t smoke. If business gifting is your angle, we’ve written about using cigars to build business relationships.
Timing: Plan Ahead
The pages we reviewed don’t give a set production time. LM Cigars’ general copy promises a fast turnaround, but the order forms we checked are more specific: before you can add a personalized box to your cart, you have to agree that the order can take up to 15 business days to complete before shipping. Shipping time is on top of that. The site’s own advice is to order as early as possible, especially for weddings and large events.
Our advice is to work backward from your event date. Leave time for the design back-and-forth and approval, up to three weeks of production, and shipping.

The Cigar Guys’ Planning Checklist
Here’s how to get the most out of a custom order.
Know your crowd. At a wedding or corporate event, plenty of guests will be occasional smokers or first-timers. LM Cigars itself recommends mild and medium-bodied cigars as a safe choice that everyone can enjoy, and we agree. Our list of cigars for beginners explains why.
Think about size. A big toro can take well over an hour to smoke. If guests will be lighting up during a short cocktail hour, a robusto is often the better fit. Our guide to cigar ring sizes covers how size changes the smoke.
Pick labels or cellophane on purpose. A label sits alongside the cigar’s original band, has a classic look and can carry a logo or artwork. Cellophane gives you more room for text and lets you pick a color to match your theme. Either way, proofread everything twice.
Plan for keepsakes. Many guests won’t smoke the cigar that night. A cigar left in its cellophane isn’t a substitute for a humidor, so pass along a few storage tips and our take on whether to keep the cellophane on.
Set up a place to smoke. Check that your venue allows smoking and where. Have cutters, lighters and an outdoor area ready. Our guide to hosting a successful cigar event covers the logistics.
Questions to Ask Before You Order
LM Cigars lists a hotline at (800) 822-4427 (8 a.m. to 5 p.m. Eastern, Monday through Friday) and an email address, humidor@lmcigars.com. These are the questions worth asking before you commit, along with the answers LM Cigars gave us:
- What’s the minimum order? One box. The site advertises “low minimums,” and LM Cigars confirmed the minimum is a single box. You can’t mix and match singles, so each box holds a single cigar style rather than an assortment.
- How many design revisions are included, and when do I see a proof? There’s no limit on revisions, and LM Cigars aims to get you a proof in about a week.
- How long will shipping take to my address after the up-to-15-business-day production window? That depends on the shipping method you pick when you order.
- Will my logo pass review? If you’re not sure, give LM Cigars a call and ask. If a design raises a trademark question, they’ll talk it through with you, and if you can’t show proof of trademark use, they’ll offer to cancel the order. Nobody ends up paying for cigars that can’t be printed.
The Bottom Line
LM Cigars’ custom program is straightforward. You pick a cigar from their custom lineup, choose a personalized label or printed cellophane, submit your design or let their team make one, and approve it before production. Give yourself plenty of lead time and choose cigars your guests will actually enjoy. You can browse the options on the LM Cigars custom cigars page.
